Blah Blah Blah

Ahh, it is so good to be on holidays! Even though a week's already passed, it still feels like heaven. Sleeping in, baking goodies and staying up late to watch the stars dance. :)
Though I can't go outside to enjoy my new bike because it has been raining NON-STOP, and even if it wasn't there's not much to do except cycle to the pool and back, and there and back, and there and back, and there and...*cough* *cough*, you get the idea. ☺
A few weeks ago...or maybe it was a month....I received my prize for the Cathy Cassidy writing competition I won. I keep wanting to take a photo, but the stuff is all over the place, and some bits are at school. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I hope you don't mind if I got slightly less than a thousand....
I got:
-A cupcake themed letter writing set (I LOVE receiving snail mail. Not only that, but I looooove cupcakes! This blog was originally gonna be called 'Cupcake Glitter'...)
-A green pen with white polka-dots (green ink)
-A fairie badge (to go with the theme FAIRYtales)
-Two snazzy bookmarks
A letter from Cathy
:)
I think I shall go now, dinner is ready and I'm hungry....until next time,

Flying....
Ok, I'm gonna put the positive thing o pause for a bit, and moan a bit about something I got on Friday. Sorry, I hope you don't mind. Don't read on if you do. Anyway, on Friday I got....braces. Yes, it is true. And oh, it is so very horrible! It hurts very very much and I can't bite anything at all! Waaaa. I think it's a bit long for them to still be hurting. My friends say they look fine and the pain will go away, but it is hard to believe them. Also, I am not allowed lollies. Like, AT ALL. Which is sad, as I am such a sweet tooth. Oh well. Do any of my readers have braces? If so, please tell me about them!

A New Bicylce and Sweet Blossoms...
Today I finally received my new bike! My old one is about like, up to my knee and is horribly old. My new one is light blue and just the right height! I am so excited. I can't wait to ride it to school on Monday!
Also, today is the third day of spring. It's SO lovely! I reckon spring is my favourite season. Not too hot, not too cold, and of course all the cherry trees start to blossom! It looks so fairytale-ish. Outside our house is a beautiful peach blossom tree. I'll have some pictures up as soon as I replace the battery in my camera. Which might take a while. :)
Oh, before I got, I would like to tell you about a lovely blog, Pixie Dust and Rose Petals. It is so very poetic and positive, I love it!!! Please check it out!

Well Hello....and Sorry For Being a Lazy Blogger!
As I am writing this, I am nibbling on a toffee apple and listening to 'Fearless' by Taylor Swift. Jealous? :)
rt. I put my hair in two long plaits and wore crocs (the shoes, not the reptiles!) on my feet. My friend was dressed up as a fairieand we had a fight over a teddy. She won, so I threw a tantrum, which the crowd loved. Some of my other friends dressed up as baby twins, bunny rabbits, barbie dolls, and K wore a nappy! Our coach dressed up as Tiger! It was SO MUCH FUN!!! But it finished at like, 1 am!Saturday, August 15, 2009
A Wonderful Day and Positive Thnking

You may have noticed that I've put one of those music-playing-teddy bear thingys on my sidebar. So now you can listen to sweet music when you read my posts. Lots of Taylor Swift, she's my favourite!
Enjoy your day.

Pssssst, I Have A Secret.....
I haven't read/watched 'Twilight', I don't have Twitter, MSN, facebook or Windows Live Messenger, the only Lisa Clark book I've read is 'Think Pink', I haven't read/seen any of the 'Harry Potter' stories, I haven't watched the 'Hannah Montana Movie', I've never even watched 'Toy Story' when I was little and before the 'Twilight' craze I didn't have a clue who Robert Patterson is, however you spell his last name. So yeah. I'm pretty old fashioned. Anyone else like me? I'm gonna improve soon. At least I have a blog. TWO now, actually....
If you haven't heard already, Anna (from Anna Banana) and I have started out own book blog! We'll be mainly focusing on Australian books, but we'll review others if their really good. Huge thanks to Beanie for thinking up our name, 'Chery Banana Split', and for everyone else for drawing our attention to it. You rock!
Check out our blog here. PLEASE check it out! We're just starting out so there isn't many posts, but give us time and we'll be bursting with reviews. There might also be a competition on soon........

Cathy Cassidy Interview!
1. Hi Cathy! Thanks so much for doing this interview! So is there someone or something that inspired you to start writing?
I've always wanted to be a writer... I loved daydreaming, and writing the dreams down was just the next step forward! If one person was an inspiration, I'd have to say my lovely Dad, who sadly died recently... he gave me a love of stories, the courage to dream big and the enthusiasm and determination to make the dreams happen. When someone you love really believes in you, you truly can do anything.
2. How do you come up with such unique characters and names? Are they ever based on anyone you know?
I collect interesting or unusual names from readers who email me or whom I meet at book festivals and on school visits... cool! Then I weave a character around the name... I also get inspiration from readers at book events! If someone looks interesting, they may spark off the beginnings of a character!
3. Do people ever come up to you on the streets screaming 'Omg, it's CATHY CASSIDY!!! Eeeeek! Can I have an autograph?!" If so, does it annoy you?
No. Authors are very rarely THAT famous... unless you are JK Rowling!!! I do sometimes get spotted at book festivals or in my local supermarket, but it's always very sweet and polite!
4. If you HAD to, which ones of your books would you write a sequel to?
My book Lucky Star is a 'kind of' sequel to Dizzy, all about Mouse when he is 14 years old. You'll find out what happened to some of your other fave characters, too! Check it out... I think you'll like it! That is the closest to sequel I have done.
5. Were you surprised when you found out how good your first book, Dizzy was selling?
Yes... I was just happy to have had a book published, but to find kids were connecting with it so much was brilliant!
6. Why did you decide to start writing books for younger readers like Shine on Daizy Star?
My publishers asked if I'd have a go... and I thought it might be fun!
7. If you weren't a writer, what would you be?
I would probably still be an art teacher or an agony aunt for a teen mag, jobs I still did until recently... they were fab!
8. Can you give us a little clue on what your next book will be about?
Will it be for older or younger readers?
The very next book out in Australia will be called 'Letters To Cathy'. 'Letters To Cathy' is a non-fiction book answering some of the questions readers send me on growing up, friendship, family, school, boys... and much, much more. It will be out in November. I think you'll like it!!!! The 'Cathy Cassidy Dreams & Doodles Daybook' will also be available in Australia then. Next Spring, the second 'younger' book, 'Daizy Star & The Pink Guitar' will be on sale (ages 7-11).Then, in the autumn, there will be the first in a new series for my usual age group... it's still top secret, so keep an eye on my website cathycassidy.com for more details once I start writing!
9. If you had to live on the moon with only one book, which would it be?
I'd pick a big blank-paged notebook so I could draw and write my own stories.... then I'd never get bored!
10. Would you rather live in Antarctica or Africa?
Either place would be a real struggle for me. It'd have to be Antarctica with a centrally heated house, or Africa with a house that has air conditioning! I'd probably go for Africa if I had to choose... it's an amazing continent!
11. Thanks so much for doing this interview! The last question is: If you were the Queen for a day, what would you do?
Wow! I would create a new teen or pre-teen parliament to help young people with THEIR problems... put daydreaming onto the school timetable of every school in the land... and free cake & smoothies at breaktime, too! I'd also make National Best Friends Day (4th July) into INTERNATIONAL best friends day, so kids around the world could celebrate it. And I would ask everyone to sign up to the FRIENDSHIP CHARTER on my website cathycassidy.com - actually, I'll ask anyway! Please sign up if you can, and say NO to bullying and YES to the power of friendship. Yay!!! Thanks Stacey... fab questions!

Notebooks and......Oh Just Stuff!

In which I'll keep short stories, poems, story starters and MORE!
And a gold one in which I'll keep interesting bits and pieces that I can later work into a story.
So..... holidays have started! Actually they started on Friday but you know. Both Mum AND Dad are working so I have to stay home mostly, but that means I'll be bloggin' a lot! Yesterday my lil' bro was just watching TV and I was on the computer 'cause it was really windy outside and we were bored. So then EVERYTHING turned off. Because of all the wind, a tree fell over and hit the power line! So we started collecting candles so we wouldn't have to find them when it's dark, and thank goodness I have a mobile phone 'cause otherwise no one would've been able to get through to check we were all right!
My phone:

last time we had a windy day like this a whirl-wind thingy came and took our trampoline and took it out to we the golf course! We live like, really close to the golf course! So it got caught in a tree then fell down and absolutely got totally bent. Scary yet seriously true!
Oh and about a week ago I told my Mom's and Dad's friend about the 101 tasks in 1001 days thingy and he said he'd do it! So today I was just sitting on the sofa, writing in my new notebook when my Dad comes in and goes, 'There's a letter for you. From the USA!'. I got like totally confused 'cause no one I know lives in the USA or is on holiday there right now. So I open it up and realise it's a postcard from that very friend! He said one of his goals was to visit Los Angeles/California and he'd done it! I'm like, 'NO WAY!!!' I mean, I sent someone to Los Angeles! Really! Talk about exciting!
Thanks to everyone, especially Beanie, for giving us an idea for our blog name. Now we're stuck-Cherry Banana Twist or Cherry Banana Split? Comment!
OK, now I should go but before I do I'll warn you that something REALLY exciting is going to appear on this blog SOON....................

Sleepovers And The Sweet Sound of Music

Bonjour all, sorry haven't been bloggin' in...how long was it since I properly blogged? Oh well, it feels like it's been a while. Well, in that time I have been doing many things but I won't tell you everything 'cause then I'll be here all week. But some interesting things....our netball team won a few games. Oh, and I went to a sleepover at my friend M's house (S was there too)and we tried to stay up until past 4:00 am (our record) but then M fell asleep so we went to sleep as well, because there was no point staying up any longer without her. Oh, I bought a bottle of hot pink and neon yellow nail polish for three dollars. And it's actually good nail polish, which is just SO cool and such a bargain! We also went ten-pin bowling and I came 2nd (S came first).
Before we went to bed we had a beauty session and M went a bit crazy with the lipstick and started drawing cat whiskers and a moustache on her face. Really, my friends are mad, but that's what makes them fabulous!
Now, on to music. Music rocks (geddit? Cause it rocks...OK, I'll stop now)!
Here's some tunes I'm listening to right now....
- Burn by Jessica Mauboy (seriously cool!)
- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Miley Cyrus
- Untouched by The Veronicas
- Get Shaky by The Ian Carey Project
- Love Story by Taylor Swift
- Tell Me Something by Selena Gomez
- You Want A Little Of This by Ricki-Lee
- Cry For You by September
- Just Dance by Lady Gaga (you'd think she'd find a better name)
- Hot 'n' Cold by Katy Perry
- I'm Yours by Jason Mraz
- Waking Up In Vegas by Katy Perry
- I Want It All by HSM3 Sharpay and Ryan Evans
- Dancing Queen by ABBA
- The Climb by Miley Cyrus
OK there's like a heap more, but I have to get off the computer now.
Au Revoir, peoples!

Six Things That Make Me Smile
If you are tagged write a post on your own blog about this saying six un/important things which make you happy. Then you need to link to the person who tagged you and tag six blogger people of your own. Then let them know that you've tagged them, perhaps by leaving a comment on their blog somewhere or by email. Simple. If you don't want to post on your own site, or don't have time, then just add a comment on to mine here. I won't mind if you don't link back to me, it's just a bit of fun, so don't worry about it if you don't carry it on!!!
So, 6 things that make me smile...hmm....mine's probably just gonna sound like everyone else's, but here it goes....
(in no particular order)
1. Friends+Family: I dunno what I'd do without them. Everyone knows how special it feels to be hugged by family and friends. Plus, they're fun and hilarious and can turn a frown on my face upside down!
2. Reading: I loooooooooove it!!! Doesn't matter what - a book, a magazine, a restaurant dinner menu, just as long as I can read it. Reading is amazing - you can really dive into the pool of stories and be emotionally moved.
3. Daydreaming: You can be anyone and anywhere. Fill your head with ideas, dreams and drama and make it as far from he truth as you want without spending a dollar.
4. Shopping: I guess this also includes makeup and fashion. It's fun looking for the perfect accessories/notebook/shoes/lip gloss. OR running into little shops and trying on dresses that are waaaaaay too expensive. After all, one day you'll be $rich$.
5. Seeing other people happy: It just really puts me in a good mood knowing someone else is enjoying themselves, laughing without a care in the world...
6. Bloggin': Yep, the world of bloggin' madness is somehow attaching itself to me, eating away at my homework time....
Well, that's it! I actually did it. I don't know WHO to tag, since pretty much EVERYONE has been tagged! Well, if I tag you and you've already done, don't stress.
So I tag:
1. Jessica at http://thecollegelifeilive.blogspot.com/
2. Jewels Diva at http://www.jewelsdiva.com.au/
3. Nic at http://pinknic-uk.blogspot.com/
4. Dazzy at http://dazzy-funspot.blogspot.com/
5. Sasha at http://www.the-sweet-bonjour.blogspot.com/
6. Beanie at http://beanieology.wordpress.com/
